Brashear at Schuyler County January 4, 2008

The Tigers and Rams split a pair of non-conference games Friday night.

The Lady Tigers managed to hold Schuyler County at bay all during the 1st half with the score tied 6-6 after one quarter and with Brashear holding an 18-14 lead at half-time. Brashear even managed to extend the lead to 6 points early in the 3rd quarter before Schuyler County exploded with a series of steals for fast breaks and some hot outside shooting. The Lady Rams had built a 35-23 lead by the end of the 3rd quarter and cruised to a 47-27 win. For Brashear, Christina Scudder had a 10 point double-double, Hailee Kelsey had 7 points, Stephanie Elsea and Emily Ladwig had 4 points each, and Jessi Hill scored 2 points. Schuyler County was led by Jackie Roberts with 13 points, Kaitlyn Stump added 10, Tahnee Poe had 9, Tara Verkuilen added 6 points, Kourtney Nelson had 5, and Kanada Nelson scored 4 points.

In the boys' game, Brashear led 18-9 after 1 quarter and went into halftime holding a 28-20 lead. The 3rd quarter saw the Tigers maintain their lead 44-34, but Schuyler County started edging closer in the 4th quarter while Brashear ran down the clock. The Rams closed the gap to trail by only a bucket 47-45 with 2:30 left, but Brashear was able to successfully run out the clock picking up 4 clutch free throws and a basket to hold on for the 53-45 win. Trae Treasure led a trio in double figures for Brashear with 18 points. Kale Watson had 13, Kiley Watson had 12 points, Justin Hazen added 8, and Matt Thomas had 2 points. For Schuyler County, Greg Buckallew had 12 points, Jacob Winkler and Christian Cunningham had 9 points each, Jesse Wheeler and Tyler Reese had 6 each, and Tyler Weaver scored 3 points.
